Hi all, remember me? I’m back!
Last year was very busy. Some great, some not so much. My big project was writing my first book, The Italians of Newark: A History. It was released in October of 2024 and has been well received. Needless to say, this was a huge investment of time and effort, so everything else was set aside. Now in 2025, I’m ready to get back to crochet, weaving, spinning, felting, and more.
Setting Goals
The first goal I have for this year is to get familiar using a circular knitting machine. About a month ago I purchased a Sentro Knitting Machine, and while I’ve given it a few tries, there is certainly more to it than turning a crank.
Next up, I really want to make a granny square jacket. I have always been a huge fan of the incantations of granny squares and they are definitely making a comeback! I’ve seen a wide variety of patterns and styles, so I want to make sure I pick something that is just perfect.
I really miss spinning yarn. My two wheels have sat for a long time unused and that needs to change. I think I’ll sign up for a lesson or two at one of my favorite shops, The Spinnery in Frenchtown.
Finally, I would like to pick up weaving again. My skills are currently mediocre at best and I want that to change. I do, however, want to start with a pin loom or other small loom style. I have several and I have barely used them.
Well, those are my goals. I’m happy to be back on my fiber arts journey and I hope you will rejoin me on my voyage.
Happy 2025!
